Shade Hotel runs two upscale beachside hotels in Southern California—Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach. Their old website wasn’t doing them justice. It needed a cleaner design, better mobile experience, and an easier way for the team to manage content across both locations.
We teamed up with another agency that handled design, and we led development. The goal was to build a site that looked great, loaded fast, and made it simple for their team to keep things updated like events, menus, and rooms. Oh—and it had to handle both hotels from one place.
Custom layouts for rooms, events, and offers
Location-specific pages and menus
Easy-to-edit blocks and page templates
Smooth booking integration
Clean, mobile-friendly design
We crafted a custom WordPress multisite, which basically means one main site with separate areas for each hotel. This gives the Shade team flexibility to run both sites under one roof without things getting messy.
We kept everything lightweight and fast so guests could get where they needed to go—book a room, check out the restaurants, or browse events—without hassle.
With two properties, WordPress multisite made a lot of sense. It allows both hotels to have their own unique content and vibe, but still keeps everything manageable in one dashboard. It also makes future updates easier down the line.
The new site is simple, flexible, and works well across all devices. The Shade Hotel team can now keep content fresh without needing a developer every time. And it gives guests a better idea of what staying at either location is like before they even arrive.
This was a fun project that came together through great collaboration. We love working with hospitality brands—especially when it involves helping them bring a little of their real-world charm online.
